γ-glutamylcysteine Ligase(GCL) Assay Kit

GCL is a rate-limiting enzyme synthesized by GSH, and GSH has a feedback inhibition effect on GCL. The expression of the GCL gene is regulated by various factors, such as oxidants, antioxidants, growth factors, and inflammatory factors. The level of GCL activity has an important impact on GSH content and the GSH/GSSG ratio. In the presence of ATP and Mg2+, GCL catalyzes the synthesis of γ-glutamylcysteine from glutamate and cysteine; at the same time, ATP dephosphorylation produces inorganic phosphate molecules. By measuring the rate of increase of inorganic phosphate, GCL activity can be calculated.
