M17 agar

M17 agar is a solid medium for selective culture of Lactococcus lactis, and each 100g product contains a specific proportion of ingredients. Its basic components are plant peptone, soybean peptone and yeast extract powder, providing a balanced nitrogen source and growth factors; Disodium β -glycerophosphate is used as a buffer to stabilize the pH environment. Magnesium sulfate and ascorbic acid are specially added to the culture medium to promote the growth of Lactococcus lactis and inhibit some miscellaneous bacteria. It is widely used in the separation, culture and viable count of dairy starter cultures (such as Lactococcus lactis and Leuconostoc lactis), and it is an important tool for quality control of yogurt, cheese and other fermentation processes.
