M17 broth

M17 broth is a liquid medium for selective culture of Lactococcus lactis. Its basic components are plant peptone, soybean peptone and yeast extract powder, providing a balanced nitrogen source and growth factors; Disodium β -glycerophosphate is used as a buffer to maintain pH stability. Magnesium sulfate and ascorbic acid are specially added to the culture medium to promote the growth of Lactococcus lactis. It is widely used in the proliferation culture, phage detection and fermentation characteristics research of dairy starter cultures (such as Lactococcus lactis and Leuconostoc lactis), and is a basic tool for biotechnology research related to lactic acid bacteria.
