LAMVAB agar
LAMVAB agar is a solid medium for selective separation and enumeration of lactobacillus. Its name comes from the key components: fructose (L), peptone (A), mupirocin (M), vancomycin (V) and agar (AB). The basic nutrition is provided by peptone and yeast extract powder, and fructose is used as carbon source; The selective inhibitors mupirocin and vancomycin can effectively inhibit most gram-positive bacteria (such as enterococcus and staphylococcus). The culture medium can specifically promote the growth of lactobacillus, and show the acid-producing characteristics by bromocresol purple indicator, which is widely used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of lactobacillus in complex samples.
