APX (EC.1.11.1.11) is one of the important antioxidant enzymes for plants to eliminate reactive oxygen species and is also one of the key enzymes in ascorbate metabolism. APX has various isoenzymes, which are located in chloroplasts, cytoplasm, mitochondria, peroxisomes, and glyoxysomes, as well as on peroxisomal and thylakoid membranes. APX catalyzes the oxidation of AsA by H2O2, making it the main consumer of AsA in plants. The activity of APX directly affects the content of AsA, and under stress and de-stress conditions, there is a certain negative correlation between APX and AsA.APX catalyzes the oxidation of AsA by H2O2, and APX activity is calculated by measuring the oxidation rate of AsA.
