BBL agar medium is a solid medium for selective separation and enumeration of Bifidobacterium. The former is used as a reducing agent to create an anaerobic environment, while the latter inhibits most Gram-positive bacteria. The culture medium can support the formation of typical colonies of Bifidobacterium, and is easy to identify by combining with the contained indicators.
