BLB medium is a solid medium for the separation and culture of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria. Its basic components are peptone, liver extract powder and glucose, which provide nitrogen and carbon sources; The key additive is L- cysteine hydrochloride as reducing agent to create an anaerobic environment, and defibrinated sheep blood is used to supplement growth factors. Agar in culture medium is used as coagulant and aniline blue is used as acid-base indicator. The culture medium can support lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria to form typical colonies, and is widely used in the separation and culture of related flora in probiotic products and intestinal microbial research.
