BLB agar
BLB agar is a solid medium for selective separation of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria. Its basic components are peptone, liver extract powder and glucose, which provide nitrogen and carbon sources; The key additive is L- cysteine hydrochloride as reducing agent to create an anaerobic environment, and defibrinated sheep blood supplements essential growth factors. Agar in culture medium is used as coagulant and aniline blue is used as acid-base indicator. The culture medium can support lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria to form typical colonies, and is widely used in the separation and culture of related flora in probiotic products, fermented dairy products and intestinal microbial samples.
