The cytochrome P450 enzyme system is a group of isoenzymes mainly present in the liver. The Phase I reactions of drugs in animals primarily depend on the catalysis of the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. Many drugs can induce or inhibit the activity of the cytochrome P450 system, thereby causing a reduction in drug efficacy, toxicity, and an increased incidence of residues. AND is equivalent to the CYP3A4 subtype in the P450 enzyme system and is closely related to the demethylation of drug metabolism. AND catalyzes the release of formaldehyde from aminopyrine, and by measuring the formaldehyde content using Nash colorimetric method, the activity of AND can be calculated.
