Cytochrome P450 enzymes are a group of enzyme systems primarily found in the liver, playing a crucial role in the metabolism of exogenous substances, especially drugs and toxins. ERND corresponds to the CYP2B subtype in the P450 enzyme system and is closely related to the demethylation of drug metabolism. ERND catalyzes the release of formaldehyde from erythromycin, and the formaldehyde content can be quantified through Nash colorimetric determination to calculate ERND activity.
