Acetylcholinesterase(AchE) Assay Kit

AchE is a serine hydrolase that is widely present in various animal tissues and serum. In the synaptic cleft, AchE maintains the normal transmission of nerve impulses by catalyzing the hydrolysis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (Ach), playing an important role in biological neuroconduction. AchE catalyzes the conversion of Ach to choline, which then reacts with 5,5'-dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB) to produce 5-thio-2-nitrobenzoic acid (TNB). TNB has an absorption peak at 412 nm, and by measuring the amount of TNB produced, the activity of AchE can be calculated.
