Carboxylesterase(CarE) Assay Kit

CarE, also known as carboxylesterase, is widely distributed in tissues and organs and belongs to the serine hydrolase family. CarE catalyzes the hydrolysis of endogenous and exogenous substances containing ester bonds, amide bonds, and thioester bonds, but it cannot catalyze the hydrolysis of acetylcholine and its analogs. CarE is involved in lipid transport and metabolism and is associated with the detoxification and metabolism of various drugs, environmental toxins, and carcinogens; organophosphorus pesticides can bind to and inhibit CarE activity. CarE can catalyze the conversion of acetic acid-1-naphthyl ester to naphthylic acid, which results in a blue coloration; by measuring the rate of increase in absorbance at 450 nm, the activity of CarE can be calculated.
