AHM differential medium
AHM identification medium is a selective medium for rapid identification of Vibrio cholerae. Its basic components are peptone, yeast extract powder and sucrose, which provide basic nutrition and fermentation substrate; The key additives are sodium dodecyl sulfate and bromothymol blue indicator. Vibrio cholerae ferments sucrose to produce acid on this medium, forming a colony with yellow center, while other vibrios are mostly blue-green. Rapid screening can be achieved by typical colony colors, which is a common tool for identification of Vibrio cholerae in water and food hygiene detection.
