TOP10

The TOP10 strain is derived from the MC1061 strain and is one of the most commonly used competent cells in laboratories at present. Its genotype is highly similar to that of DH10B (DH10B is galE15 type, while TOP10 is galU type). TOP10 grows rapidly (faster than DH5α but slower than Mach1-T1), and colonies can be seen after 10 hours. The mutations of recA1 and endA1 are beneficial for the stability of inserted DNA and the extraction of high-purity plasmid DNA. It can be used for cloning, blue-white screening and other experiments.
