DB3.1
DB3.1
DB3.1 is a derivative strain of E.coli K-12. After special modification, its most prominent feature is that it can stably replicate plasmids containing ccdB toxic genes, which makes it the first choice for using Gateway cloning technology or constructing/amplifying vectors containing ccdB genes. This tolerance of this strain stems from the mutation of gyrA462 gene, which makes DNA gyrase insensitive to the inhibition of ccdB toxin. In addition, DB3.1 also carries endA1 mutation, which is beneficial to the preparation of high-quality plasmid DNA, and its recA1 mutation ensures the stability of inserted fragments and prevents homologous recombination. Because of its unique genotype, DB3.1 is functionally complementary to conventional cloning strains such as DH5α, and it is an indispensable professional tool strain for specific advanced molecular cloning experiments.
