EGY188 is a competent cell of Saccharomyces cerevisiae used in yeast two-hybrid system. Its genotype is MATα, and it carries many auxotrophic markers (such as trp1, his3, etc.), which is convenient for screening positive transformants through auxotrophic medium. The strain was prepared by special technology, and it has high transformation efficiency, and it is usually greater than 10 cfu/μ g DNA by pGBKT7 plasmid detection. EGY188 is suitable for transferring the constructed prey plasmids such as pGADT7 directly into yeast cells which already contain bait plasmids, so as to verify the interaction between protein in a single cell, and it is a commonly used tool strain in protein interaction research.
