BY4741 Chemically Competent Cell
BY4741 Chemically Competent Cell
The BY4741 strain is derived from the original Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain - S288C, which is a commonly used laboratory strain with a mating type of MATa. It is widely used in studies on sodium and potassium ion balance; cellular salt tolerance; absorption of various metal ions; heavy metal toxicity; the effects of various carbohydrates and carbon sources on the growth of eukaryotic cells; and the absorption and transport of peroxides and superoxides. The BY4741 yeast strain is a histidine, leucine, methionine, and uracil auxotrophic strain that can be transformed with the pYES2 plasmid into BY4741 cells using PEG/LiAc. The selection marker for the pYES2 plasmid is URA, which can be screened using SD-URA plates. The BY4741 competent cells are prepared through a special process and can be stored at -80°C for 12 months , with a transformation efficiency of pYES2 plasmid (5857bp, AmpR) exceeding 104 cfu/μg DNA.
