Pink1
Pink1
Pink1 strain (also called PichiaPink Strain1) is an engineering strain of Pichia pastoris for eukaryotic protein expression. The key feature is that the deletion of ADE2 gene leads to the pink color of the strain in the conventional culture medium, and it is adenine auxotrophic (Ade2-). When the plasmid containing ADE2 gene (such as pPinkα-HC) was successfully transferred, the color of the transformant changed from pink to white, and it could grow on the medium without adenine. This color change provided an intuitive visual sign for the selection of transformants. This strain is usually transformed by electroporation, which is suitable for the expression of recombinant protein.
