Turbo is an engineering strain that grows very fast in Escherichia coli. Its key feature lies in the deletion of endonuclease (endA), which can significantly improve the yield and quality of plasmid DNA. At the same time, the gene expression is strictly controlled by lacIq system, which is suitable for cloning toxic genes. The strain is suitable for blue-white spot screening and has resistance to T1 phage. Cloning can occur in about 6.5 hours on the plate, and plasmid can be extracted after 4-6 hours of shaking culture. The transformation efficiency of competent cells is extremely high, and it is usually more than 5× 10 cfu/μ g DNA detected by pUC19, which is a common tool for efficient gene cloning and plasmid amplification.
