BL21(DE3)

BL21(DE3) is a derivative strain of BL21 that has been lysogenized by bacteriophage DE3 which can express T7 RNA polymerase under the control of the lacUV5 promoter (the relevant gene sequence has been integrated into the bacterial chromosome). IPTG can induce expression of T7 RNA polymerase in BL21(DE3) strain, so BL21(DE3) strain is suitable for the expression of the target gene regulated T7 promoter (T7 promoter) through IPTG induction. The expression of the target gene in the common pET series of prokaryotic expression vectors is regulated by7 promoter, so it is suitable to use BL21(DE3) as the host strain. Genotype of BL21(DE3) strain: F- omp hsdSB (rB- mB- ) gal dcm (DE3).
