BL21 Star(DE3)

BL21 Star(DE3) strain is derived from BL21(DE3) and contains rne131 mutation (RNase gene). The mutation of RNase gene reduces the accumulation of endogenous RNase, enhances the stability of intracellular mRNA of the strain, and thus improves the expression level of heterologous protein. It is mainly suitable for high-level protein expression of T7 promoter expression vectors (such as pET series), and also contains Escherichia coli RNA polymerase, and can also be used for protein expression of non-T7 promoter expression vectors (pGEX, pMAL, etc.). BL21 Star(DE3) strain is not suitable for the expression of toxic proteins because of its high level of heterologous gene expression.
