CMCC(B)26003 is a standard quality control strain of Staphylococcus aureus, which originated from ATCC 6538P and distributed by China Medical Bacterium Preservation Management Center (CMCC). The strain is aerobic or facultative anaerobic Gram-positive cocci, which is often used for microbiological quality control such as sterility assurance, efficacy verification of disinfectants and antimicrobial susceptibility test. Its typical characteristics include plasma coagulase positive and catalase positive, and it can grow on mannitol high salt medium and ferment mannitol to produce acid. This strain is one of the international standard strains for evaluating the efficacy of sterilization products.
