△fet3fet4 is a genetically engineered strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for iron metabolism research. The strain deleted the main iron transporter coding genes FET3 and FET4 by gene knockout technology, which seriously damaged its ability to absorb iron from the environment and became an iron ion absorption defect type. This defect makes its growth highly dependent on the iron concentration in the culture medium, and its growth is limited under the condition of low iron. The strain is mainly used to study iron ion transport, iron metabolism regulation mechanism and screen foreign genes or compounds with iron transport function.
