△smf is a genetically engineered strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for the study of metal ion transport. SMF1 gene was deleted by gene knockout, which encoded an important high affinity manganese ion and cadmium ion transporter. Therefore, the strain's ability to absorb manganese ions decreased significantly, and it showed growth advantages in the medium containing heavy metals such as cadmium. The strain is mainly used to study cell biological processes such as metal ion homeostasis, transport mechanism and toxicity tolerance of heavy metals.
