△ccc1
△ccc1
△ccc1 is a genetically engineered strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae used to study the steady state of metal ions. The strain deleted CCC1 gene by gene knockout technology, which encodes a manganese/iron transporter located in vacuole membrane, and its main function is to transport iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) ions in cytoplasm and store them in vacuoles. Therefore, the △ccc1 mutant shows the imbalance of intracellular iron ion homeostasis, especially the decrease of vacuole iron storage capacity, which may affect the iron utilization of mitochondria and other organelles. This strain is a common model for studying the metabolism of metal elements and related human diseases.
