△sul1 sul2 is an engineering strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae with double gene deletion, which was constructed by simultaneously knocking out SUL1 and SUL2 genes. These two genes encode high affinity sulfate transporters, which are responsible for the uptake of sulfate ions in the environment with low sulfur. Double deletion leads to the inability of yeast cells to absorb sulfate effectively, which seriously limits their growth in low sulfate medium. This strain is mainly used to study the regulation mechanism of sulfate metabolism and transport and to identify the function of exogenous sulfate transporter through functional complementary experiments.
