△PMC1
△PMC1
△PMC1 is an engineering strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae used to study calcium ion homeostasis. The strain deleted PMC1 gene by gene knockout, which encoded a P-type calcium pump located in vacuole membrane, and was responsible for actively transporting calcium ions in cytoplasm to vacuole for storage. Its absence leads to the decrease of calcium buffering capacity of yeast cytoplasm and is more sensitive to high calcium environment. This strain is a common model for studying calcium signal transduction, calcium-dependent cellular processes and related human diseases.
