△pmc1 cnb1
△PMC1 CNB1 is an engineering strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae with double gene deletion, which knocks out two key genes, pmc1 and cnb1. PMC1 encodes a P-type calcium pump on the vacuole membrane, which is responsible for transporting calcium ions in cytoplasm to vacuoles for storage; CNB1 is the regulatory subunit of Calcineurin, which is very important for the activity of calcineurin. Studies have shown that the cell viability can be improved by up-regulating the activity of vacuole H+/Ca2+ exchange protein Vcx1 when the calcium pump PMR1 is absent. Therefore, this strain is an important model to study the relationship between calcium ion homeostasis, calcium signal transduction, especially the function of calcineurin and vacuolar calcium storage.
