Helicobacter pylori culture medium (solid) is a solid culture medium for selective isolation of Helicobacter pylori. Its basic components are brain heart infusion and peptone, and the key additives are sheep blood or horse serum to provide necessary growth factors. Selective additives include vancomycin, amphotericin B and trimethoprim. This culture medium supports Helicobacter pylori to form tiny and transparent colonies under micro-aerobic conditions, and shows urease activity by adding indicators. It is a standard tool for the isolation and identification of Helicobacter pylori in clinical gastric mucosa samples.
