△sod1 Yeast strain
The SOD1 gene encodes copper-zinc superoxide dismutase, a core enzyme responsible for protecting yeast cells against oxidative damage. When the SOD1 gene is deleted to form the sod1Δ mutant, the antioxidant capacity of yeast cells significantly declines, and their tolerance to oxidative stress and cell wall stress markedly decreases. This mutant serves as a key model for investigating the relationship between "oxidative stress and cell wall homeostasis."
