mg1655 Escherichia coli strain
mg1655 Escherichia coli strain
The MG1655 strain is derived from W1485 and is a K12-derived engineered Escherichia coli strain that has undergone minimal modification, closely resembling the "WT-wild-type" strain. MG1655 exhibits standard morphological characteristics and can serve as a template for amplifying WT-type Escherichia coli genes or as a host strain for protein expression. However, it lacks the endA1 nuclease mutation and contains relatively high levels of endonucleases. When extracting plasmids, it is essential to use the protein-free solution provided in the plasmid extraction kit to thoroughly remove endonucleases, thereby preventing degradation of the extracted plasmids.
