Tetracycline assay agar

Tetracycline assay agar is a special medium for determining microbial titer of tetracycline antibiotics. Its basic components are peptone, beef extract powder and yeast extract powder, which provide comprehensive nutrition for microbial growth; Sodium chloride maintains osmotic pressure and agar is used as coagulant. The culture medium forms a bacteriostatic circle on the coating of specific indicator bacteria (such as Micrococcus luteus) by double-layer plate method, and the content of tetracycline antibiotics in samples is calculated according to the linear relationship between the diameter of bacteriostatic circle and the concentration of antibiotics, which is a standard method for the detection of antibiotic residues in drugs and foods.
