Sodium chloride and sodium citrate nutrient agar is a solid medium for microbial separation in hypertonic environment. The basic ingredients are peptone and beef extract powder, and the key additives are high concentration sodium chloride (usually 10-20%) and sodium citrate. This culture medium inhibits non-halophilic microorganisms in high-salt environment, and sodium citrate is used as a selective carbon source to support moderate halophilic bacteria to form typical colonies. It is a standard tool for microbial detection in high-salt food and salt environment.
