Mycobacterium culture medium

Mycobacterium culture medium is a solid culture medium for selective separation of mycobacteria. Its basic components are asparagine and glycerol, the key additive is malachite green to inhibit the growth of miscellaneous bacteria, and yolk provides essential fatty acids. This culture medium supports the slow growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in acidic environment (2-8 weeks to form rough colonies) through selective components and inhibitors, and is a standard tool for bacteriological diagnosis of tuberculosis.
