Thermophilic maintenance medium is a semi-solid medium for long-term preservation of thermophilic microorganisms. Its basic components are peptone and beef extract powder, the key additive is sodium thioglycolate to reduce redox potential, and low concentration agar forms semi-solid matrix. The culture medium can maintain the activity of thermophilic bacteria and inhibit the germination of spores through high temperature (50-60℃) anaerobic environment and semi-solid characteristics, and is a special tool for the preservation of extremely thermophilic microbial strains.
