WLD medium is a solid medium for selective separation of lactic acid bacteria, especially beer harmful bacteria. Its basic components are wort and yeast extract powder, which simulates beer environment; The key additives are cycloheximide and bromocresol green, the former inhibits the growth of yeast, and the latter is used as acid-base indicator. This culture medium can promote the growth of lactic acid bacteria and show acid-producing characteristics (yellowing around colonies) through acidic pH conditions and selective inhibitors, and is a special tool for monitoring microbial pollution in beer brewing.
