A7 differential agar

A7 identification agar is a special solid medium for observing the morphology of mycoplasma colonies. The basic ingredients are bovine heart extract and peptone, and the key additives are horse serum, DNA and thallium acetate. This culture medium provides growth factors through serum, DNA enhances the stereoscopic impression of colonies, thallium salt inhibits miscellaneous bacteria, and makes mycoplasma form a characteristic "poached egg"-like colony (dark center core+transparent edge), which is a standard tool for mycoplasma identification and counting.
