Haloxylon schrenckii culture medium is a special culture medium for extremely halophilic selenium-reducing bacteria. Its basic components are high concentration sodium chloride (20-25%) and selenate, and the key additives are yeast extract and peptone. The culture medium supports Halobacillus schrenckii to reduce selenate to elemental selenium through hypertonic environment and selenate substrate, and is a special tool for studying selenium biogeochemical cycle in salt environment.
