Bordet Gengou Medium

Bordet Gengou Medium is a selective nutritive medium rich in blood and antibiotics, specifically designed to isolate the fastidious Bordetella pertuss from clinical specimens. Its core principle is to "provide what it (B. pertussis) needs and kill what it (other bacteria) does not need", with preliminary done through a unique colony morphology (pearly luster). Although its usage has declined in the era of molecular diagnostics, it remains an important traditional technique in microbiology laboratoriesi.
