MUG nutrient agar (NA-MUG)

MUG nutrient agar (NA-MUG) is a solid medium for rapid identification of Escherichia coli. Its basic ingredient is nutrient agar, and its key additive is 4- methyl umbelliferone -β-D- glucuronide (MUG). β -glucuronidase produced by Escherichia coli can decompose MUG, and make the colony appear blue fluorescence under 366nm ultraviolet lamp. The culture medium realizes the specific identification of Escherichia coli by fluorescence reaction, and is widely used for rapid detection of Escherichia coli in food, water quality and environmental samples.
