Tyrosine agar

Tyrosine agar is a solid medium for detecting microbial tyrosinase activity. Its basic components are peptone and beef extract powder, and the key additive is L- tyrosine. This culture medium is an important tool to identify mycobacteria and some fungi by screening microorganisms producing tyrosinase through tyrosine substrate, and brown soluble pigment diffusion zone will be formed around positive colonies.
