Improved HC agar base

The improved HC agar base is a solid medium for selective separation of Vibrio cholerae. Its basic components are peptone, yeast extract and sucrose, and its key additives are sodium thiosulfate, citrate and bile salt system, which can inhibit gram-positive bacteria and some non-target vibrios. The improved formula can enhance the inhibitory effect on miscellaneous bacteria by optimizing the ratio of inhibitors and pH value. Vibrio cholerae ferments sucrose to produce acid, which makes the colony yellow. Combined with bromothymol blue indicator, it can quickly identify Vibrio cholerae, which is an effective tool for detecting Vibrio cholerae in water and food samples.
