BCSA agar containing polymyxin and gentamicin is a solid medium for selective isolation of Acinetobacter baumannii. Its basic components are casein amino acids and yeast extract, and the key additives polymyxin and gentamicin can synergistically inhibit most gram-negative bacteria and some gram-positive bacteria. This culture medium supports Acinetobacter baumannii to form typical colonies through a dual antibiotic selection system, and effectively inhibits the growth of miscellaneous bacteria. It is a special tool for detecting the multi-drug resistant bacteria in hospital environment and clinical specimens.
