The Vacin & Went culture medium salt is a low-salt formulation specifically designed for tissue culture of orchid species, jointly developed by Vacin and Went in 1949. It provides essential inorganic nutrients required for seed germination and bulb propagation in orchids, and typically requires additional supplementation with carbon sources (e.g., sucrose) and gelifying agents (e.g., agar).
