YM catalase agar

YM catalase agar is a special solid medium for detecting the catalase activity of microorganisms. The basic ingredients are yeast extract and peptone, and the key additives are hydrogen peroxide solution and blood components. The culture medium directly drips hydrogen peroxide or premixes a proper amount of hydrogen peroxide into the culture medium, and utilizes the characteristic that catalase positive bacteria decompose to generate bubbles to form obvious bubbles or hemolysis circles. Typical applications include the rapid identification of Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Micrococcus, and the screening of catalase-negative bacteria such as lactic acid bacteria. It is an important tool for enzyme activity identification in clinical microbiology and food microbiological examination.
