SOT medium is a solid medium for selective separation of soil microorganisms. Its basic components are soil extract and glucose, and the key additives are cycloheximide and nalidixic acid to inhibit fungi and gram-negative bacteria. This culture medium promotes the growth of actinomycetes and specific Gram-positive bacteria by simulating soil environment and selective inhibition, and is a standard tool for the development of soil microbial resources and the screening of antibiotic-producing bacteria.
