Mycoplasma arginine broth medium is a liquid medium for selective culture of mycoplasma using arginine. Its basic components are bovine heart extract and peptone, the key additive is arginine as the main energy source, and horse serum provides sterols. This culture medium supports the metabolism of mycoplasma (such as mycoplasma hominis) in arginine deamination pathway to produce alkali, which makes the phenol red indicator change from yellow to red, and realizes rapid identification. It is a special tool for mycoplasma typing and identification in clinical specimens.
