Martin agar

Martin agar is a solid medium for the separation and culture of fungi and yeasts. Its basic components are glucose and peptone, the key additives are magnesium sulfate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate to provide necessary ions, and agar is used as coagulant. By optimizing the carbon-nitrogen ratio and ion concentration, this culture medium supports fungi and yeasts to form typical colonies, and is a standard tool for microbial limit inspection, antibiotic titer determination and fungal identification.
