Flavobacterium medium

Flavobacterium medium is a solid medium for selective separation of Flavobacterium. The basic ingredients are peptone and yeast extract powder, and the key additives are phenylalanine and ferric chloride. This culture medium induces Flavobacterium to produce characteristic yellow pigment by combining specific precursors with ions, and inhibits miscellaneous bacteria by combining antibiotics. It is a standard tool for identification of Flavobacterium in clinical and aquatic samples.
