Mannitol and sodium chloride agar medium is a solid medium for selective separation of pathogenic staphylococcus. Its basic components are peptone and beef extract powder, and its key additives are 7.5-10% sodium chloride and high concentration mannitol. Phenol red as acid-base indicator. This culture medium can inhibit non-target bacteria in high-salt environment, and pathogenic staphylococcus can ferment mannitol to produce acid to form yellow colonies, thus realizing rapid identification. It is a standard method for detecting Staphylococcus aureus in food and clinical samples.
